I'm excited to find this website. I'm in Philadelphia, PA (on the east coast in the US). I would be happy to send out the following:

Candy and other local goodies (tastykakes are quite yummy)
Music (either local or mixed
Local postcards, stamps, etc
Historic stuff from the area (it's everywhere)

at the moment i am watching buffy- which is great fun, but i'm sure most of you know that already. some day I too will be as cool as buffy.
i also learned about italian charm bracelets today. they are so cool. i went to the gallery (which is not my favorite place) and found a starter bracelet and some cool charms for it at strawbridges.
I also got some taco bell which i have been craving- it was yummy.
we're going to check out "the lives of boise" tonight at the fringe festival. it's about oscar wilde's lover. i love oscar wilde. I can't wait. i'll tell you all about it when i return. |

so, i'm a little obsessed with ken on jeopardy. in fact, i'm watching him at this moment. anyway, yesterday in the metro (a newspaper so bad that it's good) they announced that he is going to lose when he goes for his 75th win. on the one hand that is cool that he makes it so far (it's not suppose to air until the end of Oct), on the other hand- i am pissed at the metro for ruining the excitement of watching him kick everyone's ass and milk jeopardy for all it's worth!
in other news, today is my day off from school. so i did some shopping. bought dorian a scratching post. i hope he starts to use it and leaves the hepa filter alone. i also got some new pillows and sheets. keiko will get the old pillows so she doesn't feel left out, what with dorian getting a scratching post and all. i also got "reefer madness" on dvd- i decided it is a must have. what a riot.
not much else going on at the moment. i have to take keiko for a walk soon, but i know i'll be lazy and not do it for at least another hour or so.

okay, my damn computer is taking forever to load on livejournal, but not anything else. let's see. we came in 2nd place in the baseball tourny in nyc. i love nyc. we also stayed at the chelsea (chris and I) which was super cool- i totally loved it. our room was beautiful and pink.
i've finished my second week of classes. so far so good.
there's been a lot of rain here.
this is so random- which is fine.
what else?
I am patiently waiting to hear how I did on my comps. It probably won't be until after the 20th-which is crazy, but whatever. I try not to think about it.
Not much else at the moment. I have to start dinner soon. chris is still at work, so i said i'd make dinner for us both tonight.

I have completed my first week of classes- hooray. I am looking forward to the classes. there will be lots of reading, but it is reading that will be interesting, and even more importantly, useful. I'm going to spend the day reading and getting errands done before going to NYC for the weekend! I'm so excited. We are playing in a baseball tourny in central park. it should be a blast. chris is coming up sun and we're staying at the chelsea- he has become obsessed with nancy spungen, she's from around here. he even went to look for her grave the other day and drove by her house. i'm sure we'll have to walk by room 100 at the chelsea about a million times when we are there.
well, keiko must be walked, she's getting anxious- not a good sign. |

toady i started my feminist ethics and political philosophy class. it is going to be super cool. it's grads and undergrads together (did i say that before?) anyway, we are starting with 2nd wave feminism and reading different political philosophies and writing philosophy papers. the prof seems really cool as well. i'm looking forward to the whole thing. not much else going on. i'm going to nyc on sat to play baseball- it'll be awesome. baseball in central park.

I'm back. two times in one day- that's pretty impressive for me. My first day of classes went well. The writing center (where my TA position is) was mellow. I have to observe some sessions first before I do my own. It's cool though, I like the people and I really think I will like the position. My class was a research seminar on American Politics. The focus is democratic education. I am going to do a project on youth organizing, looking a groups of youth who do political and social organizing and start groups. So if anyone out there knows, or is part of, any cool groups in philly, let me know.

I am such a bad live journal writer. But I'm back and i am going to try to write on a more daily basis. I feel like I'm making a new year's resolution or starting a 12 step program. But I have been busy. We were on vacation. Then I had to write my comps- which I turn in at 10am today. I hope they are fine and I don't need to do any rewrites (keep your fingers crossed). I start classes for the new semester today. I'm looking forward to them- I'll write all about them later. One more year of classwork then it's dissertation time- big fun!!
I finished my new issue of my zine, Emma Goldman, last night- so if anyone wants a copy, just hollar- it turned out to be long- like 42 pages. i'm gonna read over it today to make sure I have everything in order and then make copies at school this afternoon. So it's good to go.
Well Keiko needs to be walked or she will not be a happy pit bull, so i am off.

so we're on a mini vacation out in Lancaster. it is nice. it reminds me of growing up. tomorrow we're looking at trains and some amish stuff. more later.
